Many tournaments present a floating trophy to the winner, and Trigantius 
is no exception. The Trigantius trophy is Silver and lists all the 
winners engraved on the trophy itself. The tradition has been for  the 
winner to keep the trophy till the next tournament.

So the worry for the TD is:

Will the trophy be returned?
Will the trophy be engraved?
Will the trophy be cleaned?

My experience has been that the  trophy usually does get returned, but 
sometimes is not engraved and sometimes not cleaned.  If the winner does 
not engrave the trophy then the next year's winner will need to engrave 
two names. Engraving itself is not foolproof and sometimes the engraver 
makes mistakes. So somebody has to get that fixed.

I know its great to win and keep the trophy for a year. But with great 
success comes great responsibility, and sadly this is not always achieved!

Obviously we can ensure that the trophy is always available when needed 
if the TD keeps the trophy, gets it engraved and cleaned in time for the 
next tournament.

I think this opens up some questions:

1. How often do trophies go missing?
2. How do others manage getting the tropy updated/cleaned?
3. Should the TYD keep the trophy?
4. If the TD keeps the trophy, what do we give the winner?.
    Suggestions so far:
      Picture of winner receiving trophy.
      Small token cup.

Any thoughts?
