FROM THE EDITOR
This issue, and previous newsletters, are available in the Newsletter
Archive <https://britgo.org/newsletter> in the Members' Area. This is the
most reliable way to view the Newsletters, as some email clients can
corrupt the formatting of the pictures.
Contributions are always welcome, both from our members and others. We ask
that they be Go-related and "newsy". The place for debate and general
discussion is the BGA open mailing list Gotalk. However, an introduction to
a new topic is fine in the Newsletter. A brief introduction to Gotalk, with
a link for joining, is on the BGA page Go on the Internet
<https://britgo.org/gopcres/info#mail>.
*Instructions for Contributors:* Please use plain text not
file-attachments. Keep it fairly brief, and give web-links and contact
details. It's good to include pictures. If they are on the internet, send
me the URL, otherwise attach the picture files to your email. Send your
contribution to newsletter at britgo.org to arrive by the first day of the
month.

NEWSBritish Pair Go 2025
The British Pair Go Championship moved to Nottingham for the first time
this year, with the tournament being sponsored by Threedy Printers Limited.
In another first we saw new first-time champions of Ai Guan and Damen Woo,
with Alison and Simon Bexfield taking second place and Lauren Hindmarch and
Bjorn Eurenius taking third spot.
In the handicap section, we had three pairs on 3 wins. The overall title of
handicap champions went to Helen Harvey and Soorena Zarafshani, with Olivia
Jennison and Claude Robinson, and Renee Wong and Ryan Wong sharing second
place.

Cambridge Youth Go
As in last year, three Go days for children are being run in Milton,
Cambridge on Wednesdays during the summer holidays, on 30 July, 13 August
and 27 August. Each day will be run by two or three Go teachers, including
at least one dan level player. There will be Go playing and Go teaching,
mixed with regular breaks and the chance to play outside. If the weather is
good we will have lunch outside in the country park, and at the end of the
day we will play some other games and puzzles. Children who play Go at any
level can join. Cost £35/£60/£75 for 1, 2 or 3 days respectively. For more
information contact Paul at paul361smith at gmail.com or 07503 898934

ADMINNew Director
We are very pleased to announce that Damen (Ho-Yeung Woo) has been co-opted
onto the Board of Directors of the BGA. He will have responsibility for
player development, a task he has already been sharing with Sam Bithell.
This brings the Board appointments up to eight again, and continues a
general trend where the average age of the Directors is decreasing, surely
a good sign for the future of Go in the UK.
BGA Logo Competition
