FROM THE EDITOR

This issue, and previous newsletters, are available in the Newsletter
Archive <https://britgo.org/newsletter> in the Members' Area. This is the
most reliable way to view the Newsletters, as some email clients can
corrupt the formatting of the pictures.

Contributions are always welcome, both from our members and others. We ask
that they be Go-related and "newsy". The place for debate and general
discussion is the BGA open mailing list Gotalk. However, an introduction to
a new topic is fine in the Newsletter. A brief introduction to Gotalk, with
a link for joining, is on the BGA page Go on the Internet
<https://britgo.org/gopcres/info#mail>.

*Instructions for Contributors:* Please use plain text not
file-attachments. Keep it fairly brief, and give web-links and contact
details. It's good to include pictures. If they are on the internet, send
me the URL, otherwise attach the picture files to your email. Send your
contribution to newsletter at britgo.org to arrive by the first day of the
month.

Blake Shamoon, Zoe Walters and Emily Gan. In the first round on 22 January
the UK lost 4-1 to Ukraine, the strongest team in the League. Then on 12
February the team of Ryan Zhang, Lea Wong, Michael Mitcham-Harding, Zoe
Walters and Blake Shamoon beat France 5-0 to move up to third place in
League A.

In the separate European Youth Go Team Competition, on 1 and 2 February,
they beat Romania 3-2.
Junior-HK Match 2024

Over the past few weeks a team of UK Go players has played a match against
a team from Hong Kong. The match was played on the "last man standing"
basis: the weakest two members play the first game, for the second game the
loser is replaced by the next player on their team but the winner stays on
(and so on). Detailed results here.

I am pleased to say that the UK team won the match 8:6.
