McMahon is designed to give even-ish games in the first round, below
the bar. <br>

I guess that becomes slightly different as rounds progress, and
above the bar I certainly don't think that's exactly the case. <br>

Above the bar everyone is generally treated equally, no matter what
grade they are and therefore there are bound to be some quite
differing expected win percentages. What you're trying to do is
provide games where both players at least have a reasonably
plausible chance of winning.<br>

I don't think that Alison is the only player to have that opinion -
so I disagree that it's simply a specific preference. I've heard
other players say similar things about having the opportunity to
play stronger players, in an even game, even though their chances of
winning are not very high.<br>
