The draft minutes of the EGF AGM contain the following:<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal style='margin-left:36.0pt'><b><i>“EGC 2028 </i></b><i>- Colin Williams informed the AGM that the UK would like to express a very tentative interest to organise the EGC 2028. There is no team ready to support this yet, but there is an intention to mobilise one and the location would be a university campus between Edinburgh and Glasgow.”<o:p></o:p></i></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>No other country indicated an intent to bid for the 2028 congress. The next stage in the process would be for us to submit a formal bid to host it at the next EGF AGM, which will be in Turkey during the 2026 Congress. This means that in the next twelve months we need to decide whether we have, or can acquire, the capabilities and resources to host an EGC, and if so prepare a professional bid. The Board has agreed that we will only host an EGC if we can do it well, so we have set the bar high for ourselves.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>The initial working party has already done some of the groundwork, without which we would not even have expressed an interest. We all recognise though that to be able to submit a bid we have to build on this and develop the plans to a much greater extent. That will involve pulling together a team of people prepared to contribute to this early planning. It will not just be about providing ideas, it will require us following through on them to add some real detail.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>If you are willing to help with this effort please contact me on <a href="mailto:President@britgo.org">President@britgo.org</a> and let me know. Please give an indication of how much free time you might have to put into this, and if there are any areas of particular interest you want to work on.
